Motohiro Hayakawa
Motohiro Hayakawa is known for his works depicting battle scenes with numerous Sentai heroes, monsters, aliens, and robots. His work is influenced not only by Japanese culture, such as tokusatsu (special effects), TV animation, and manga, which he was fascinated with as a child, but also by American comics and foreign TV animation. Its flat screen also shows that it incorporates not only subcultures such as manga and anime, but also traditional Japanese pictorial expressions. The screen, with its homogeneous arrangement of diverse characters, sometimes thrillingly unfolds as the world of Heian-emaki, which is depicted from a bird's eye view, or the flat game world of the troops. But although it is supposed to be a battlefield, we cannot accurately distinguish friend from foe, nor can we find an absolute hero or heroine. Some of the characters are just passing by or conversing with each other, giving the film a comical and nostalgic impression. The battle scenes may be futuristic as well as problematic in terms of the battlefield.
His activities have expanded to include not only exhibitions, but also collaborations with musicians and live painting, and he has received high acclaim overseas, with exhibitions held in France and Spain, as well as the publication of a book of his paintings.
In this exhibition, we will introduce soft vinyl, books, and risographs. (We will announce risographs as soon as they arrive.)
