Collection:
SANZOKU
We’re excited to present SANZOKU’s ceramics again this year, following last year’s popular release!
SANZOKU is run by artist Yuko Nemoto, who continues to expand her artistic career — from holding a two-person exhibition with Toshiya Murakoshi at the Fukushima Prefectural Museum of Art to being selected for the prestigious Faenza International Ceramics Exhibition in Italy.
This year’s collection features her signature flower cups in rich, mature glaze tones, along with a wide variety of plates, including beautiful floral designs. You’ll also find artful pieces like the mammoth and sheep sculptural cups.
We hope you’ll take this opportunity to enjoy her joyful and expressive work!
SANZOKU,
is a brand of ceramics by artist Yuko Nemoto, inspired by the image of "tableware for spending time (in the mountains)". SANZOKU is a brand of cute and quirky ceramics that can be used in the real world and can also be art pieces. SANZOKU is created like a sculpture, one by one, by "Tebineri (hand forming pottery)" (a method of molding by piling up strings of clay one layer at a time).
Yuko Nemoto,
Born in 1984. Ceramic artist. Graduated from Tohoku University of Art & Design, Graduate School of Art and Design, Department of Craft Art (MFA). Studied under Mr. Morihiro Wada while a student at Tohoku University of Art & Design. She uses "Tebineri (hand forming pottery)” techniques to create oddly shaped objects and imaginary creatures in the form of animals. In recent years, she has been creating works of stray dogs. She also runs a brand of cute and quirky ceramics under the name “SANZOKU".
In 2020, she received the Toshiko Prize at the 23rd Taro Okamoto Award for Contemporary Art Exhibition. Major exhibitions include "PART OF THE ANIMAL / Between Animals and Humans," Gallery at Seikatsu Kobo, Tokyo (2024); "62nd Faenza Prize – International Biennale of Contemporary Ceramics", MIC Museo Internazionale delle Ceramiche, Italy (2023); “Straddling Boundaries,”Fukushima Prefectural Museum of Art, Fukushima(2023); ”Material Reincarnation-Beyond the Material," The Museum of Fine Arts, Gifu (2021); "The 23rd Taro Okamoto Award for Contemporary Art Exhibition," Taro Okamoto Museum of Art, Kawasaki (2020); "Reborn-Art Festival 2019," Ishinomaki City Area (2019)

Cautions for handling:
Each piece is a one-of-a-kind handmade product. Unlike the molding method using a potter's wheel or a mold, the clay is compressed using only the force of the hand's fingers to form the piece, so you can enjoy the gentle expression of the piece, but unlike other molding methods, it may chip easily and be fragile. However, unlike other molding methods, it may chip easily and be fragile in some parts. Also, depending on the glaze used, there may be many "kan-nyu" (fine cracks in the glaze), which will give the piece a more sophisticated look after use.
The gold and silver (kinsai and ginsai) are baked on, but they are semi-permanent, so they will fade or change in color with use. Also, it may come off when rubbed with a hard sponge or the like. Please understand it as the atmosphere and taste of the passage of time. The gold content of the gold color is 6%.
The color and texture of the photographs may differ slightly from the actual product. Thank you for your understanding.
