Title: "DRAWING B"
Artist: Maya Nukumizu
Medium: Ink and acrylic on paper
Size: h. 21.0 x w. 15.0 cm
A rare original drawing by artist Maya Nukumizu.
Created with ink and acrylic on paper, the work features imagery reminiscent of shōjo manga — a motif that repeatedly appears throughout her practice.
Maya Nukumizu
Born in Kyoto Prefecture. Moved her base of operations to Tokyo in 2012. Completed her graduate studies in Art Expression at the former Kyoto University of Art and Design. Studied under Keiichi Tanaami during her university years.
Drawing on the manga culture that has profoundly influenced him since childhood, he positively portrays an infinite number of "protagonists." With a pop and excessive style that seems to reflect the information-overloaded modern society, he expresses an energetic world using manga symbols.
While consistently exhibiting his work both domestically and internationally, he is also active in a wide range of fields, including participating in art fairs and creating CD jacket artwork for artists such as Macaroni Enpitsu and Shiritsu Ebisu Chugaku. Recent major solo exhibitions include "STRANGE STRANGERS" (OIL by Bijutsu Techo Gallery, Tokyo, 2025).
